Specialist software written to control and read from a Bruel & Kjaer Band Pass Filter and a Bruel & Kjaer Measuring amplifier for the purposes of measuring ear defender noise reduction. This application is now in use by a well known personal protective equipment company.

When an ear defender model is selected in the software by the user, behind the scenes, the software selects a set of pre-determined optimal gain settings for that ear defender. In doing so it allows tests to become faster and more accurate by reducing the chances of overloading/underloading the measuring amplifier. Should the need arise for a user to change these settings, introduce new settings or simply apply these settings to a new ear defender then they may do so by adding/modifiying the appropriate record in the underlying Access database.

To the left can be seen a photo of the equipment that the software was programmed to control and receive measurements from. On top is the measuring amplifier and beneath is the band pass filter.

The diagram to the left illustrates the setup of the equipment that was used in combination with this software. The software actually replaces a post-speaker band pass filter that had to be operated manually (manual adjustment of frequencies and gains) in order to achieve the same results.
